The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But the Pharaoh disavowed and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
