The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
