The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
