Messengers! Partake of the things that are clean, and act righteously. I know well all that you do. 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 And those who in the signs of their Lord do believe. 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 and those who give what they give, their hearts quaking that they are returning to their Lord -- 60 It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. 61 And We tax not any person except according to his capacity, and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Aye! their hearts are in bewilderment in respect thereof, and they have works beside that, of which they are workers. 63 So that when We seize the affluent among them with affliction, they will begin to implore for help. 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Was it that you did not give any thought to it (the Quran)? Was it different from what was revealed to your fathers? 68 Or is it, perchance, that they have not recognized their Apostle, and so they disavow him? 69 Or they say, “He is afflicted by a demon”; in fact he brought the Truth to them, and most of them dislike the Truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them? So the reward of your Lord is the best; and He is the Best Provider of Sustenance. 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 but those who disbelieve the life hereafter deviate from the right path. 74 ۞ Even if We showed them mercy and relieved them of their afflictions, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 until, when We open against them a door of terrible chastisement, lo, they are sore confounded at it. 77
