Seest thou one who turns back, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
