Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
