The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 who shall bring before thee every sorcerer of great knowledge." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126
