The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. 2 And those who from everything vain turn away. 3 Who are active in deeds of charity; 4 who guard their privates, 5 Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, 6 Those who seek beyond that are transgressors. 7 (Prosperous are those) who preserve their trusts and pledges 8 to their promise, 9 Such are the inheritors 10 Who shall inherit the Paradise; they shall abide therein. 11 And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. 12 Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. 13 Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators! 14 Then after that you will most surely die. 15 Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. 16 And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful. 17 And We send down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We cause it to settle in the earth, and most surely We are able to carry it away. 18 Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palm and vines; for you therein are fruits many, and thereof ye eat. 19 We have also created for you the tree that grows on Mount Sinai which produces oil and relish for those who use it. 20 And verily in the cattle for you is a lesson. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are advantages many, and of them ye eat. 21 And you are carried on them and on boats. 22
