And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
