The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Alif Lam Mim. 1 Allah! There is no god but He, the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal. 2 He has sent the Book (Quran) to you (Muhammad) in all Truth. It confirms the original Bible. He revealed the Torah and the Gospel 3 Aforetime, for a guidance to mankind; and hath revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong). Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, theirs will be a heavy doom. Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong). 4 Nothing in the earth and in the heavens is hidden from Allah. 5 He it is Who fashionoth you in the wombs as He will; there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise. 6 It is God who has revealed the Book to you in which some verses are clear statements (which accept no interpretation) and these are the fundamental ideas of the Book, while other verses may have several possibilities. Those whose hearts are perverse, follow the unclear statements in pursuit of their own mischievous goals by interpreting them in a way that will suit their own purpose. No one knows its true interpretations except God and those who have a firm grounding in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All its verses are from our Lord." No one can grasp this fact except the people of reason. 7 "Let us not go astray, O Lord, having guided us already. Bestow on us Your blessings for You are the benevolent. 8 You will gather mankind together, O Lord, on a day that is certain to come, and God does not fail in His promise. 9
