The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and he belied the finest 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
