The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
