We have sent no Prophet to any city but that We seized its people with misery and hardship, that haply they might be humble; 94 Then We changed the misfortune into prosperity to the extent that they became numerous and said, “Indeed grief and comfort did reach our ancestors” – so We seized them suddenly in their neglect. 95 Had the people of the villages believed and been cautious, We would have opened upon them the blessings from heaven and earth. But they belied, and We seized them for what they earned. 96 Do the people of the cities feel secure Our might shall not come upon them at night while they are sleeping? 97 Or do the people of the dwellings not fear that Our wrath may come upon them during the day, while they are playing? 98 Do they feel secure against God's devising? No one feels secure against God's devising except for those doomed to ruin. 99
