The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
