The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who govern the event, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
