Corruptness hath appeared on land and sea because of that which men's hands have earned, so that he may make them taste a part of that which they have worked, in order that haply they may turn. 41 Say: "Go all over the earth, and behold what happened in the end to those [sinners] who lived before [you]: most of them were wont to ascribe divine qualities to things or beings other than God." 42 Therefore in purity set your face to the religion, before there comes from Allah a Day that cannot be turned back. On that Day mankind will be separated. 43 Whoso disbelieveth must (then) bear the consequences of his disbelief, while those who do right make provision for themselves - 44 God will reward the righteously striving believers through His favor. He does not love the unbelievers. 45 And among His Signs is this, that He sends the winds as glad tidings, giving you a taste of His Mercy (i.e. rain), and that the ships may sail at His Command, and that you may seek of His Bounty, in order that you may be thankful. 46 We sent Messengers before you to their respective nations, and they brought Clear Signs to them. Then We took vengeance upon those who acted wickedly. It was incumbent on Us to come to the aid of the believers. 47 It is God who sends the breezes that raise clouds, then spreads them over the sky as He please, fold on fold, then you see the drops of rain issue from between them. When He sends it down to those of His creatures as He will, they are filled with joy, 48 at the rainfall, though before that they had been in despair. 49 So behold the marks of God's mercy, how He quickens the earth after it was dead; surely He is the quickener of the dead, and He is powerful over everything. 50 Yet if We sent a wind so they see it yellow, indeed after that they would still be unbelievers. 51 (O Prophet), you cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear your call when they turn back in retreat, 52 Nor can you make the blind see the way when they have gone astray. You can make none hear except those who believe Our signs and have come to submission. 53
