The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He replied, "Throw yours first." Their great magic bewitched people's eyes and terrified them. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 [and] exclaiming: "We have come to believe in the Sustainer of all the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 Will you punish us just because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Shower us with perseverance and cause us to die as those who have submitted [to You].' 126
