Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
