The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
