The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those [angels] who range themselves in close ranks 1 And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof 2 And by oath of the groups that read the Qur’an. 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them – and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty). 6 And have placed therein a guard against any satan froward. 7 These satans cannot listen to what transpires in the High Council for they are pelted away from every side 8 To make them flee, and for them is a never-ending punishment. 9 Except one who sometimes steals a part, so a blazing flame goes after him. 10 So ask them if they are more difficult to create, or the rest We have created? Indeed (man) We created from fermented clay. 11 Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock 12 And when they are reminded, they mind not, 13 When they see a sign, they laugh at it, 14 and say: 'This is nothing but clear sorcery' 15 Why - after we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 16 And our fathers too?" 17 Say (O Muhammad): Ye, in truth; and ye will be brought low. 18 So it shall only be a single cry, when lo! they shall see. 19 They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!" 20 (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!" 21
