The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
