The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
