Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
