In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 Indeed during the day you have a long schedule of occupations. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
