The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
