۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 “And stop them they are to be questioned.” 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
