The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 and they said: "Are we to follow one single mortal, one from among ourselves? In that case, behold, we would certainly sink into error and folly! 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
