The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
