The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
