The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
