Al-A 'araaf 14 of 24
Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
