In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god except Him. Take Him for your Guardian. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
