۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
