SAY [O Muhammad]: "I am only a warner; and there is no deity whatever save God, the One, who holds absolute sway over all that exists, 65 He is the Lord of the heavens, the earth, and all that is between them, the Majestic and All-forgiving". 66 Say thou: it is a tiding mighty. 67 (And) you are turning aside from it: 68 (Tell them): “I had no knowledge of the High Council when they were disputing. 69 This alone is revealed to me, that I am only a clear warner.' 70 When your Lord told the angels, "I will create a mortal out of clay, 71 and when I have formed him fully and breathed My spirit into him, prostrate yourselves before him." 72 Then the angels bowed before him in a body, 73 Not so Iblis: he was haughty, and became one of those who reject Faith. 74 [Allah] said, "O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty?" 75 He said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and him from clay." 76 He said: Go forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast, 77 "And verily!, My Curse is on you till the Day of Recompense." 78 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "My Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are resurrected." 79 He said: Surely you are of the respited ones, 80 Until the Day of the time well-known." 81 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "By Your Might, then I will surely mislead them all, 82 Other than the chosen ones among Your creatures." 83 [Allah] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say - 84 That I shall fill hell with thee and with such of them as follow thee, together. 85 Say: I do not ask you for any reward for it; nor am I of those who affect: 86 It is nothing but a reminder to the nations; 87 and you will most certainly grasp its purport after a lapse of time!" 88
