Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty." 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 "I preached to them aloud, in public. 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
