The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
