The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
