These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then verily ye, O ye erring, denying people. 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 And have you seen the fire that you ignite? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
