Nay, by the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
