The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
