The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where then will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
