The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
