The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They said, "So this return is an obvious loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
