The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the books are spread, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night that falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
