The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 Deemest he that none will overpower him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.) 13 Or, feeding, in a day of privation, 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
