The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart did not deny, what it saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third of the pagan deities? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
