The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
