In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
