And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
