The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
