The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
